The Governing Body believes that Additional Learning Needs (ALN) are best met by a whole school policy and that all staff should play a full role in identifying and meeting these needs. We aim to identify, assess and review pupil needs at the earliest possible opportunity and follow the Welsh Government's ALNET Bill guidance throughout.

Working in partnership is the key to effective provision for pupils with additional learning needs. This embraces the Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo), all teaching and non-teaching staff, specialist staff, outside agencies and essentially parents and pupils. Miss Lucy Morgan is the ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator) for the whole school. The ALNCo meets with parents and class teachers to review IDPs (Individual Development Plan) and set new targets throughout the year. She arranges Annual Reviews of Statemented children and SpLD pupils (Specific Learning Difficulties). Liaison and partnership with parents is an essential part of this work. 

Following a period of development, consultation and co-production, the Welsh Government Additional learning needs (ALN) parent and carer toolkit is now live.

 Developed with parents, carers and professionals from across education, health and social care, including input from local authorities, it responds directly to what parents and carers have told us that information about the ALN system needs to be clearer, simpler and more consistent. It explains how the system works and where support is available for children, young people and families.

All resources are available in English and Welsh, with accessible versions including Easy Read. Together, they are designed to be used as a national resource for parents, carers and professionals.

Children who are looked after in placements other than their family home are fully included and supported throughout their schooling. Mr. Mills coordinates their care and monitors pupil achievement closely.
